Andrea Cambiaso’s agent Giovanni Bia has shed light on the recent transfer speculation surrounding his client and Manchester City. Speaking to Kiss Kiss Napoli, Bia confirmed the veracity of reports linking Cambiaso with a move to the Premier League champions.
“Cambiaso and Manchester City? The Juventus management will explain what happened, but I can confirm that what was reported in the newspapers regarding the negotiations is all true. It’s true that Guardiola wanted him,” Bia revealed.
The agent also offered his perspective on the challenges foreign players face in Serie A, using Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz as an example. “People often don’t consider that playing in Italy is not easy for those coming from abroad. Douglas Luiz is an example of someone who was tearing it up in the Premier League but struggles in Italy,” he explained.
Bia praised Napoli’s transfer strategy, stating, “Napoli has been smart to say ‘let’s continue like this, it’s pointless to chase someone who might not be useful.’ Besides, Napoli doesn’t have Champions League football and doesn’t need such a deep squad. Maybe someone comes in who wants to play at all costs and could ruin the group dynamic.”
When asked about the recent Napoli-Juventus match, Bia observed, “Juventus struggled in the second half and Napoli flew, while in the first half it was the opposite.”
Looking ahead to Napoli’s upcoming fixture against Udinese, the agent commented, “Napoli this year is a tough team, and the greatest credit goes to the coach who has been good at rebuilding this team after the ashes of the post-Scudetto period. Sunday will be a one-sided match in terms of intensity and desire to win. On the other side, they’ll find Udinese, who won’t be submissive and will try to play football with four or five dangerous players.”
