Italy are set to face Belgium in a crucial Nations League match as they aim to defend their top spot in the group. Andrea Cambiaso, along with head coach Luciano Spalletti, presented the upcoming challenge against the Red Devils. The versatile Juventus full-back, who has been one of the standout performers in the league, has also impressed in his recent appearances for the national team.
Cambiaso began the press conference by paying tribute to the victims of the Heysel disaster: “The commemoration was a very touching moment, obviously. None of us were born then, but we all know the history well. It was a tragedy, and we will certainly try to honor the victims by doing our job and trying to win the match.”
Reflecting on his growth between Juventus and the national team, Cambiaso added, “Being in the thick of the action? This ability of mine is improving over time, but I believe it’s constantly evolving. I need to improve every aspect of my game. All players will need to be able to do more things on the field; football is moving in this direction, as the coach has told us many times.”
When asked about his preferred position on the field, given the great versatility he’s demonstrating with Thiago Motta at Juventus, Cambiaso responded, “I try to make myself useful for what benefits the team and in response to what the opponents do. I don’t have a preferred role. On the left, I play more along the touchline, while on the right, I tend to move more into the center of the field.”
