Andrea Cambiaso, a key player for both the Italian national team, shared his thoughts following Italy’s 1-3 defeat against France. Cambiaso, who scored the only goal for Italy in the match, expressed his disappointment over the missed opportunity.
When asked about his development as a player, Cambiaso attributed his growth not only to Thiago Motta’s influence at Juventus but also to Massimiliano Allegri. He stated, “How much of my growth is due to Motta’s Juventus? There is also a lot from Max’s Juventus. I am growing year by year and trying to take the best from all the people around me. I am doing well and need to continue like this.”
On his preferred playing position, Cambiaso mentioned that he feels most comfortable in the midfield, where he can interact with teammates and assist them in finding the right positions. “There isn’t a role where I feel better. I feel better in the middle of the field relating to my teammates and trying to help them in the right positions,” he explained.
In an interview with Rai, Cambiaso reflected on the team’s performance, particularly in the second half of the match against France. He noted, “In the second half, apart from the free kick, they did nothing. We created a lot; Moise kept Maignan busy. But for me, the performance was great.”
Despite the setback at the European Championship, Cambiaso remains optimistic about Italy’s progress. He concluded by saying, “Leaving aside the European Championship, the balance is positive. After that episode, we recovered; these matches were played well. We are young; let’s continue like this.”
