Inter’s Hakan Calhanoglu touched upon the Nerazzurri’s belief that they can shift the momentum in their favour going into the second half of the season after the international break.
As it stands, Inter currently sit in fifth place with a total of 30 points, eleven points adrift from the league-leaders Napoli. However, a victory over I Partenopei in their first fixture after the World Cup at the San Siro would diminish the difference by eight points, making it very possible for last year’s runners-up to claw back into the title race.
So far this season, the Turkish international has been arguably the Beneamata’s best midfielder on the pitch, adapting seamlessly into the holding midfielder role and displaying an immense amount of talent through his immaculate passing ability and creativity. The 28 year-old has bagged two goals and four assists in 14 games-played within the league thus far.
While speaking in an interview, relayed by Calciomercato, Calhanoglu touched upon his insight of the season so far and what to expect going into the second half of the campaign from Inter:
Napoli are doing very well and deserve the first place, however the first game after the break will be against them. But we haven’t given up yet”.
On the new position
“In Italy I improved in the defensive phase, I like to direct the game. Before, I was used as number 10, but now I’m happy to play in that area of the pitch”.
About Milan
“I have many friends in the team, but obviously the fans’ perspective is different.”
