Inter Milan and Turkey midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has addressed recent transfer rumors and reaffirmed his commitment to the Italian club. Speaking to local media after Turkey’s 3-1 victory over Iceland (as quoted by TMW), Calhanoglu discussed his career achievements and future plans.
The 29-year-old midfielder acknowledged the constant scrutiny he faces, stating, “When it comes to me, there are always criticisms. I try to turn a deaf ear. Not to seem brazen, but after 21 years, a Turkish player has returned to the Ballon d’Or rankings. I’m proud of that. After all, I serve my country in the best possible way.”
Addressing speculation about his future at Inter Milan, Calhanoglu revealed, “I received offers in recent months, but I had said I would stay at Inter, and Inter won’t let me go anyway. So, as I said, it’s not something in my power. I will try to play at the highest possible level.”
The Turkish international also expressed his ambitions for his national team career, saying, “Regarding the national team, I want to manage to play my 100th match with Turkey. It has always been my goal. If my body wants it and does it, I will try to continue my football life as long as possible.”
Calhanoglu’s comments come as a reassurance to Inter Milan fans, as the midfielder has been a key player for the club since joining from city rivals AC Milan in 2021. His performances have been crucial in Inter’s recent successes, including their run to the Champions League final last season.
