Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu insists that he didn’t make the switch from Milan to Inter because of the money on offer. The Turkish international Sport Mediaset and explained that he rejected bigger offers from Saudi clubs in favour of remaining with the Nerazzurri:
“Big offers from Saudi Arabia? Yes it’s true, I refused them. I decided not to leave because I love Inter. I thank Piero Ausilio because he knows how I think. When those offers arrived, I told the club: you decide.”
“Everyone thinks I left (Milan) because of a financial issue, but money is not always everything, the most important thing for me is to feel important, and that is what I feel here. The Rossoneri fans say I’ve done wrong, given the Scudetto lost in 2022? I wish them the best but with patience we’ll see”.
“My debut with Inter? I was nervous about how the stadium would react but also sure that the love would come because I have confidence in my qualities. When the fans give you so much, you have to give back.
“Current ambitions? To win something important with Inter. Between the Scudetto and another Champions League final I choose the former. Juve say they’re aiming for fourth place? I don’t listen to what they say and in any case I don’t look at the opponents, I only think of us’.
“Inzaghi? I like the way he talks to us players, he always wants to win and he gets pissed off when we give up a bit in training: he has desire and nastiness. Besides the sporting side he also has a lot of heart, he’s calm, with him you can talk about everything. He is also growing, we brought something important together’.
