Bologna is on the verge of selling Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal for a substantial fee of €50 million. The 21-year-old defender did not report to Casteldebole and is not among the players called up for the training camp in Valles, signaling that his transfer to the Premier League is imminent.
The deal between Bologna and Arsenal had been in place for some time. Before Calafiori went on vacation, a verbal agreement was reached between the player and the English club. Now that he has returned, the final steps involve signing the necessary paperwork. Once these bureaucratic details are sorted out, Calafiori will officially become a Gunner.
Bologna is set to receive €50 million from the transfer, a figure that Juventus was unwilling to match. Half of this amount, €25 million, will go to Basel, Calafiori’s former club. The young defender will sign a five-year contract with Arsenal, which will keep him at the club until June 2029. His salary will be €4 million net per season.
