Davide Calabria, AC Milan’s long-serving right-back, has said his goodbyes to the club in an emotional interview with Sky Sport as he prepares to join Bologna. The transfer, which was finalized on Saturday morning, February 1st, marks the end of Calabria’s lifelong association with the Rossoneri.
Speaking to the media, Calabria expressed the difficulty of leaving the only professional club he has ever known: “It’s hard, I’ll miss everything. I’m happy with what I’ve experienced here. I’ll carry every memory with me forever. I’m grateful for what I’ve lived through at Milan, and I’ll always keep it with me.”
The 28-year-old defender, who came through Milan’s youth academy and has been a first-team regular since 2015, admitted that the final hours leading up to his departure have been challenging. “The last few hours have been difficult, it’s like breaking up with your wife,” Calabria said, highlighting the emotional toll of ending his long-standing relationship with the club.
Calabria’s move to Bologna represents a significant change in his career, as he prepares to wear a different club shirt for the first time. His transfer not only marks the end of an era for the player but also for AC Milan, who lose a homegrown talent and former captain.
