Napoli midfielder Jens Cajuste explained that he can play across the midfield and revealed that joining the Partenopei was ‘the easiest decision’ of his life. The 24-year-old Swedish international joined Napoli from Reims last week and gave his first official club press conference today, explaining why he was keen to come to Serie A and play for the Serie A champions:
“I can play in more than one position, either central or inside. Let’s see what the coach asks me, I can play in all positions. I don’t really like to talk about myself and my style of play. I work a lot for the team in both phases of the game. It is a great honor to be here, in the champion team of Italy, a club with a lot of history.”
“I am happy to be here, I feel a part of a great machine. My goal is to help the team, then the coach will decide how and when. Since I arrived it has been a great experience. I’ve been impressed by everyone, I’ve seen a level I had never reached. I have been impressed by everyone. Last season I followed Napoli in the Champions League, for me it is surreal to be here, I did not expect it. I watched the first friendly from the bench, the midfield impressed me so much.”
“Why Napoli? I think it was the easiest decision of my life. The city is exceptional, the fans are fantastic, a great coach. The staff has been fantastic from day one, the teammates are a great group. I haven’t been able to visit the city much, but I really liked what I saw. I played against Atalanta many years ago, it was a very difficult game. I have followed Serie A over the years, it is a difficult league, very tactical.”
“I started playing football in China when I was a child, I was 6-7 years old because my family was there. Actually at first I was interested in basketball, but then I went to football . My role models? I have many… Witsel, Dembelé, Pirlo, Iniesta… the list is long.”
