Veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is expected to make a final decision on his future very soon, possibly choosing to retire from the game. The 45-year-old returned to Parma in 2021 on a short-term deal which was extended until June 2024, taking him past his 46th birthday.
Tuttosport report that Buffon has offers from Saudi Arabia which he was considering at one point this summer, but indications are that he wishes to focus on family life after a lengthy playing career.
The newspaper suggest Buffon is set to officially retire from football, with the official announcement coming as early as today.
The veteran shot-stopper has had one of the most successful careers in Italian football, spending almost four decades in football, breaking records with Juventus as well as winning the World Cup in 2006 with the Azzurri.
