Gianluigi Buffon says not winning the Champions League was never a wound for him: “It was always a source of motivation.” Buffon, the current head of the Italian National Team delegation and former goalkeeper for Juventus and Parma, shared his thoughts with journalists and media at a public event in Biella. When asked if not winning the Champions League represented a regret in his career, Buffon offered a candid response:
“The Champions League was never a wound for me; it was always a source of motivation to strive for something extremely significant every year.
“Speaking in a broader sense concerning Juventus, teammates, and executives, I felt sorry for them and for the fans who have been yearning for this trophy for about thirty years.
“For me, playing in the Champions League was already a joy, and winning it would have been the closure of a circle, but it doesn’t concern me.”
