Bryan Cristante set for summer exit from Roma, Milan and Napoli Interested

Start

Bryan Cristante appears to be on the verge of leaving Roma, with his future likely to be decided in the summer. The experienced midfielder has been a key figure at the club, but recent events have raised questions about his long-term prospects in the capital.

Calciomercato detail how Cristante’s season has been marred by difficulties, particularly following a public altercation with Daniele De Rossi last August. Despite stepping up to play as a central defender under coach Ivan Juric, his relationship with the fans has soured, leading to speculation about his departure. The club’s ownership, the Friedkin family, is reportedly planning a significant overhaul following disappointing performances, including a recent loss to Como that sparked frustration among the hierarchy.

Currently under contract until June 2027 with a salary of approximately €3 million per season, Cristante joined Roma in 2018 and has since become one of the team’s veteran players. Interest from Serie A rivals AC Milan and Napoli has emerged, both of whom are considering making moves for him in the upcoming transfer window.

Milan’s sporting director is keen to negotiate a deal that could involve a swap with Alexis Saelemaekers, who is currently on loan at Roma. The Rossoneri are unlikely to activate the buy option for Tammy Abraham in June, prompting Roma to explore alternative arrangements that could include Cristante.

However, Cristante’s potential exit may be delayed due to an ankle injury he sustained against Atalanta. Initially deemed minor, the injury has worsened, leading to further medical evaluations. He is expected to return in mid-January for a match against Genoa but will miss upcoming fixtures against Lazio and Bologna.
