BREAKING: Carlos Alcaraz to join Juventus

Start

As the January transfer window draws to a close, Juventus are on the brink of acquiring Carlos Alcaraz, with the midfielder expected for medical examinations tomorrow. The negotiation is in its final stages with Southampton, marking a crucial move for Massimiliano Allegri in the pursuit of Serie A glory against Inter in the second half of the season.

Sky Sport Italia report that in the past few days, Juventus’ management have made renewed efforts to secure the services of Giacomo Bonaventura and Roberto Pereyra, but encountered resistance from Fiorentina and Udinese. On Tuesday, Juventus shifted their attention to Argentina international Alcaraz, the 21-year-old Southampton midfielder who has featured in 26 games across Championship, Carabao Cup, and FA Cup, contributing with 4 goals and 3 assists.

The negotiations gained momentum in the last hours as Juventus engaged in continuous talks with the English club, aiming to finalize the deal before the transfer window closes. Importantly, Juventus has received the player’s approval, bringing the parties closer (efforts are underway to reach an agreement with Southampton for a loan deal with a buyout option).

Fabrizio Romano reports that the negotiation is in its final stages, and the Argentine midfielder is expected to undergo preliminary medical examinations in London before completing the remainder of his medical checks on Wednesday, January 31. Simultaneously, discussions between the involved parties continue to iron out the details regarding the buyout option.

An official bid has been submitted tonight to Southampton as a loan plus buy option clause, that’s not thought to be mandatory. The buy option is thought to be higher than £35m.
