Former Milan director Ariedo Braida praised coach Max Allegri for his work with Juve this season and spoke about the need for ‘capable executives’ in Serie A. Braida was speaking with Tuttosport ahead of the Derby D’Italia on Sunday evening, and talked about the clash between Juve and Inter, beginning with the clubs management:
“Where there are capable executives, clubs do well: football, at times, needs expertise, and they are an example of it. Both Marotta and Giuntoli are doing a wonderful job, along with their collaborators. It’s not a coincidence that the clubs where they have worked and are working always perform well; they are simply good.”
“The coaches? Inzaghi’s skill lies in changing things and always doing well: it means he understands. Allegri’s skill lies in sensing the value of a player; he is a great connoisseur of men. Even if Inzaghi seems less experienced, he is accumulating skills and achieving results. You don’t win a Supercoppa or reach the Champions League final by chance. Time matures you, experience cannot be bought.”
“Allegri? I don’t want to replace the Juventus executives, but I would renew his contract. Even this year, Juventus is competitive. It’s not a perfect machine, but it’s running well, and everyone is beginning to credit Allegri. He has given many young players, some unknown, their debut, and they are growing very well. With his strategies, Allegri always manages to find solutions, even in difficulties.”
“Lautaro and Vlahovic: If they were a painting? They are two essential players who live for goals: I’d say ‘Taglio di Fontana.’ They don’t like to embroider, as my friend George Weah did, whom I greeted last week in Turin: he moved like a panther, was elegance, aesthetic gesture, needed the pass, the tunnel, the dribble. Lautaro and Vlahovic, on the other hand, arrive and boom, they send it into the goal without many embellishments.”
