Former Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci shared his thoughts on teammate Giorgio Chiellini’s return to Juventus in a managerial role. Speaking with La Gazzetta dello Sport (via IlBianconero), the former Juve captain reflected on Chiellini’s new position, stating, “Giorgio and I shared many years both on and off the field. His character, his idea of life after football, and his university studies already gave us an indication, when we were players, that this would be the role he would take on once he left the pitch. He had an experience in the USA that enriched him even more in terms of knowledge and relationships. For me, and I believe for all those who know him, it’s not a surprise to see him there.”
Bonucci went on to discuss what Chiellini can bring to Juventus in his new capacity: “Being a director has always been his goal. At Juventus, he can provide that sense of belonging and knowledge of the Bianconeri world that he made his own during his years as a player.”
The former Juventus defender concluded with well wishes for his longtime teammate, saying, “The wish is always the one you make at the beginning of a new journey. I hope this is just a starting point for Giorgio.”
