Bologna manager Vincenzo Italiano addressed the media ahead of his team’s upcoming match against Atalanta, following a week that saw them make their Champions League debut at home and secure their first Serie A victory of the season away at Monza. While a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool looms on the horizon, Italiano emphasized the importance of focusing on the immediate task at hand and gaining ground in the league.
“We have Atalanta next, and after that we’ll think about Liverpool. We’ll continue with this mindset. Each match has its own strategy, with different playing systems and set pieces. We need to concentrate on the immediate game and give value to the three points we earned in Monza,” Italiano stated.
The Bologna coach then discussed the progress of his attacking options: “Dallinga is improving, but other players are growing as well. It’s possible that some may get more playing time, with Castro currently having an advantage. Dallinga has improved his condition since arriving and is more confident in the environment – he’s a different person now. Karlsson needs to work hard. We have six wingers, and they all need to push themselves to earn playing time. Those who have the advantage will play.”
Regarding Riccardo Orsolini, Italiano shared insights from a recent conversation: “I had a long talk with him yesterday. The last thing I want is for Orso to be mentally burdened. I told him I want the eleven goals from last year. I assured him that he’s found the last person who doesn’t want to put him in a position to perform. He has everyone’s trust. I’m the last person who doesn’t want to enable Orsolini to be decisive, but we’re here to evaluate on-field performances. He told me he goes through these phases, and we’ll find a solution by working together this year as well.”
