Bologna secured their first league victory of the season with a 2-1 win at Monza, thanks to a superb goal from Castro. Manager Vincenzo Italiano expressed great satisfaction with the result in his post-match press conference.
When asked about the significance of the win, Italiano stated, “This is an important victory that we’ve been waiting for, one that gives us strength and awareness. We came close in previous matches, but in Monza we succeeded, thanks also to Castro’s great goal. It was a deserved victory, resulting from the week’s work and also building on the performance in Como where we didn’t repeat certain mistakes. The players celebrated with great euphoria, which I’m happy about because it’s important for us.”
Addressing whether the team is moving past their difficult period, Italiano added, “We’re growing as a group and as individuals, and I’ve seen great quality. I’m very satisfied.”
On managing the schedule between league and Champions League matches, Italiano emphasized the need for rotation: “We must get used to these rhythms and rotations. Everyone can play, even those who may not start but can be useful during the game. We need to understand that there will be these rotations and we’ll always need the spirit we saw in Monza. There will be space for everyone.”
Describing the team’s celebration with fans after the final whistle, Italiano said, “When you do this job and you’re part of a group and want to bring joy to people, there are also these joys. At the final whistle, Bologna brought home a very important success. For the rest, I know well that judgments depend on results. And this result brings us enthusiasm and awareness of what we can do. I hope that on Tuesday the players can arrive at the field with a different face.”
When asked if the Monza match could represent a turning point for Bologna’s season, Italiano responded, “Now the goal is to be consistent in individual and collective performances. This first stretch of matches has seen Bologna come close to other successes, but we didn’t manage it; we deserved something more. There will be moments of ups and downs, we’re still under construction and there are many young players who need to integrate, as well as many new players. We need patience and work, trust and great enthusiasm like the boost our fans manage to give us.”
