Bologna sporting director Claudio Fenucci believes refereeing mistakes cost his side victory against Juventus. There were a number of controversial calls during the match, beginning with what looked to be a blatant push on Federico Chiesa in the Bologna penalty area.
Later in the match, Samuel Iling-Junior looked to have collided with winger Dan Ndoye for what looked to be a certain penalty, however referee Marco Di Bello and VAR officials ignored the appeals.
Speaking after the match, Fenucci commented on the incident to DAZN, saying:
“I have been a managing director for 25 years, I don’t think you have often seen me talking about referees. This is the occasion, I congratulate my team who played a great game. A glaring refereeing error robbed us of a certain victory, as there was a penalty and a red. I am also here to defend the team and the fans for what would have been a non-trivial victory for Bologna.”
“The work that has been going on for years with VAR and field reports must be improved, these episodes are crazy. It is unthinkable that a player is mown down in the area and there is no penalty and no red. I am here to congratulate Thiago and the boys.”
