Bologna eyeing Biraghi as Lykogiannis prepares to depart

Start

Bologna are on the verge of bidding farewell to Charalampos Lykogiannis as they set their sights on Fiorentina’s Cristiano Biraghi. Manager Vincenzo Italiano has specifically requested Biraghi to bolster the squad for the second half of the season.

Gianluca Di Marcio reports that the Rossoblu are working diligently in the transfer market to improve their roster. With Lykogiannis expected to leave soon, the club is looking to fill the void at left-back. Biraghi, who has fallen out of favor under Raffaele Palladino at Fiorentina, has emerged as the primary target.

Italiano and Biraghi have a history of working together, having spent the last three years at Fiorentina. During their time there, Biraghi made 140 appearances, contributing 11 goals and 23 assists. The partnership also saw Fiorentina reach three finals – one in the Coppa Italia and two in the UEFA Europa Conference League, although they ultimately lost to Inter, West Ham, and Olympiacos respectively.

This season, Biraghi has featured in 8 Serie A matches, scoring once. His experience and familiarity with Italiano’s system make him an attractive option for Bologna as they look to strengthen their squad.

The potential move for Biraghi is not without competition, as Napoli is also reportedly interested in the 32-year-old left-back. However, Bologna’s connection through Italiano could give them an edge in negotiations.
