Bologna coach Italiano on Roma victory: “Winning here is never easy”

Bologna secured a 3-2 victory against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, with goals from Castro, Orsolini, and Karlsson overcoming El Shaarawy’s brace for the home side. After the match, Bologna’s head coach Vincenzo Italiano shared his thoughts on his team’s performance.

Italiano began by expressing his satisfaction with the result: “I’m happy for the victory because winning here is never easy and it’s a great merit for us. It was important not to give confidence to Roma, but the two goals we conceded were the result of our lack of attention in managing the game. The same thing happened in Genoa. However, this performance offers several points for reflection that we need to work on.”

Regarding Ndoye’s condition, who had to leave the field due to injury, Italiano said: “Ndoye has a wound on his shin, probably due to an impact against the post. I believe it’s just that and nothing serious.”

The coach emphasized the importance of the points gained: “I’m really happy for these points in the standings. We were behind, but now we’re adding important elements. Concreteness and cynicism are fundamental to winning games like this. We still need to improve and grow, but the fact that we have found consistency in results and goals satisfies me a lot, because it’s never easy.”

When asked about Juric’s dismissal from Roma, Italiano showed empathy: “It’s part of this job, I’m very sorry for Ivan. We know what we’re up against.”

Italiano also praised his squad’s depth and recent performances: “Karlsson arrived at the training camp with great motivation and has progressively recovered. Today I asked him to enter the game immediately with energy, and he repaid us. Dallinga was also close to scoring. It’s nice to spend a few days with a smile, but we’ll soon be back to work. We are engaged every two or three days, and this is part of our journey.”
