Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci addressed the future of defender Riccardo Calafiori, suggesting that the club have no intention of selling the player. The Rossoblu boss was speaking in a press conference introducing new head coach Vincenzo Italiano, and was asked about the future of their talented young centre-back, following links with Juventus:
Fenucci stated, “Our intention is to retain the majority of our current squad. We’ve already informed his agent that we have no plans to transfer the player.”
“We’ve communicated this before regarding other players as well: the club’s desire is to keep most of the current roster. We want to move forward with this group of players who performed so well last season. They have the potential to continue improving and deliver strong performances under Vincenzo’s guidance. We prefer to continue with them and have already informed his agent that we have no intention of moving the player.”
Vincenzo Italiano also shared his thoughts on the future of his defender: “We’ll wait until July 8th to have the entire squad available and then I’ll talk to everyone. In the past, there have been situations where some players were initially reluctant to stay, but we managed to change their minds, and I’m not specifically referring to Calafiori. I’ll listen to the needs of the players, but it’s possible to change opinions as well.”
