Bologna are eagerly anticipating a response from experienced German defender Mats Hummels regarding their recent offer. The former Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich stalwart has yet to make a decision on his future, leaving the Italian side in a state of anticipation.
Despite the departures of key figures like Joshua Zirkzee, Riccardo Calafiori, and manager Thiago Motta, Bologna has secured a spot in next season’s Champions League. This achievement has bolstered their ambitions in the transfer market, with Hummels emerging as a prime target to strengthen their backline.
According to reports from Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, Hummels is carefully considering his options. The 34-year-old defender has already turned down proposals from French clubs and lucrative offers from the Middle East, as well as rejecting interest from Dutch giants Ajax.
Bologna’s management is now faced with a decision on how long they are willing to wait for Hummels’ response. The club views him as a potential replacement for the Arsenal-bound Calafiori and is keen to secure his services.
As an alternative, Bologna has expressed interest in Toulouse defender Logan Costa. However, they now face competition from Premier League side West Ham United for the 22-year-old’s signature.
