Bojinov: ‘I hope there is respect in the stands during Juventus v Fiorentina’

Start

Former Juventus Fiorentina striker Valeri Bojinov hopes that there will be respect between rivals fans when the two sides meet on Sunday. Speaking in an interview with on Radio Bruno’s “Pentasport”, Bojinov recounted his time playing for both sides and explained what he expects from a traditionally feisty encounter:

“Firstly, I want to congratulate my friend Galloppa and the Primavera team for winning the Coppa Italia. I wish them a great future, maybe even for his parents in Parma, who were like a second family to me. They were important to me, and when we were in Rome together, we always ate ‘amatriciana’ (laughs). We were teammates and roommates, and I have a lot of affection for Daniele. I hope football gives him back what it took away from him as a player due to knee injuries.”

“The rivalry between Fiorentina and Juventus is not new. We’re familiar with the sporting animosity between the fan bases, but I hope that in the packed stands, there will be respect. I hope it’s a spectacle on the field, and may the best team win. If I have to make a prediction, I’d go for a draw.”

“Fiorentina has experienced some difficult moments, but I’m sure Astori and Barone are helping the club and the team from above. They’re proud of what the club is achieving and the many opportunities it has ahead.”

“As for Italiano, I’ve always praised the coach. I like him because his teams play good football. I would have liked to play for him.”
