Andrea Belotti and Houssem Aouar were both left disappointed after their 2-2 draw against Salernitana, insisting Roma need to improve going forward. The Giallorossi were the dominant side and controlled possession for large periods of the game, but could only come away with a draw, despite having the better chances.
Speaking with Roma TV after the game, Belotti explained why he believes they should have won the match and why the arrival of new players Renato Sanches and Leandro Paredes will help them:
“Looking at the whole match and the highlights, we deserved to win and not just by a goal difference,” said Belotti.
“That’s how it went, it’s not nice to draw when you play at home because Roma always have to play to win. When you don’t win, you can’t be happy.”
“We can improve a lot. Paredes and Renato Sanches arrived recently. They are good players and will give us a big hand. It was a tough match, it’s never easy in this heat.”
“I hope that next time I score it will be to secure all three points, otherwise the glass will feel half empty.”
New signing Aouar was asked about the teams performance and shared his opinion on the performance:
“Unlucky match, I think we deserved to win it,” Aouar told Roma TV at full-time. “We played a good game.”
“I think we need to improve defensively, but this game gives us confidence to improve in the next match and for the season as a whole.”
“I think I need some time. Last year was a difficult season for me, I think it’s easier me to play with these lads. I’m happy to play with them, it’s easier for me on the pitch, I’m confident for the future and for the season ahead of us.”
