Bayern Munich are beginning to plan for life after Manuel Neuer, as the legendary goalkeeper approaches the twilight of his career. With Neuer turning 39 in March, the German giants are actively scouting potential replacements across Europe, including some intriguing prospects from Serie A.
Calciomercato report that one name that has caught the attention of Bayern’s scouts is Zion Suzuki, the first Japanese goalkeeper in Italian football history. Currently impressing at Parma, Suzuki has been closely monitored by Bayern’s representatives, who have made multiple visits to the Tardini stadium to assess his performances. While any potential move is unlikely to materialize in January, Suzuki is certainly on Bayern’s radar for a possible summer transfer.
The Bavarian club’s search for Neuer’s successor extends beyond Suzuki, with several other Serie A goalkeepers also under consideration. Marco Carnesecchi, the 24-year-old Atalanta shot-stopper, is viewed by many as the future of Italian goalkeeping and has been impressive since cementing his place as the team’s first-choice keeper.
Roma’s Mile Svilar has also caught Bayern’s eye after stepping up from his backup role last season to become a key player for the Giallorossi. Additionally, AC Milan’s Mike Maignan remains a potential target, despite ongoing contract renewal talks with the Rossoneri.
