Bastoni: ‘I’m happy to have extended my contract with Inter’

Start

Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni says he wants to remain with the club ‘as long as possible’ after extending his contract. The Italy international opted to stay with the Nerazzuri, despite strong interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Speaking with InterTV, the defender expressed his happiness at agreeing a new deal and his aims and ambitions for the new campaign:

“When I arrived at the Nerazzurril, I had one goal, To establish myself at Inter, and stay as long as possible.” Now I’m happy to have extended my contract. That was what my family and I wanted.”

“New season? We’re getting into it with a hunger to win as much as possibly can. We have to try and repeat what we did last season.

We’ll try to defend the Supercoppa, go all the way in the Coppa Italia, but above all we’re aiming for that second star. I have to thank the people who have worked at Inter over the years. Coaches, teammates, players who have worn this shirt for a long time.

“Now I’ll try to pass something on to the new arrivals. I still have to improve in many aspects – consistency over the course of the season, for example. I have to try to be a leader, I want to try and push my teammates.”
