Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni has confirmed that the contract extension talks between him and the club are progressing. The Italy international has never hidden his desire to remain with the Nerazzurri and reports in Italy earlier this month indicated he was in talks with Inter over a new contract.
Speaking in a press conference after the Nerazzurri’s Coppa Italia win over Fiorentina, the 24-year-old confirmed that he and the club are ‘on the same wavelength’ in reference to his future in Milan:
“I’ve always said that I’m happy here, I’ve never hidden that. The club and I are on the same wavelength, I think we’ll continue together and I’m happy.”
“We’re happy, because it’s always great to win a trophy after we’ve suffered so much criticism.”
“We won the Coppa Italia final and then we’ll have the Champions League final, but Atalanta comes first. Then we’ll focus on trying to make history.”
“We hadn’t planned to concede so early on, that wasn’t our goal. Fiorentina are a strong team, we knew the kind of problems they’d cause us even just from watching their league matches. We wanted to get our strikers in space so we could hurt them, as we did on our two goals.
“City? We need to improve our approach at the start. We won a Champions League semifinal against Milan by starting strong.”
“Victory is a lifeblood for us, It recharges us immediately, we would play tomorrow if we had to.”
“Now there’s an important match against Atalanta to come, we’re fired up for it.”
