Former Juve defender Andrea Barzagli believes the Bianconeri deserve to be at the top of the table following their win over Monza. Speaking with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Barzagli said of Juve’s recent matches:
“The Derby D’Italia played as a draw has increased awareness and the conviction of the Bianconeri. A bit like saying: ‘we’re there and we’ll play it out until the end.’ But then with Monza it was fundamental to win and Juve did it. And triumphing in the 94th minute, with that reaction of strength and anger after conceding the equaliser a few minutes earlier, is worth a lot.
“Scudetti are won from these victories, determined and dirty. The 1-1 at Monza could have been fatal, instead Juve immediately went forward with 4-5 men: Rabiot was extraordinary and Gatti scored with wickedness. There is a different spirit compared to last year’.
“Napoli v Inter? Allegri and the players will take a peek, but nothing more. Better to stay focused on themselves. I’m more curious: Inter are very strong, but Napoli with Mazzarri seems to have regained confidence and serenity”.
