Baroni optimistic as Lazio prepare for Juventus clash

Start

Lazio manager Marco Baroni expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness for their upcoming Serie A match against Juventus. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Baroni provided updates on player fitness and shared his thoughts on the challenge ahead.

“The team is doing well,” Baroni began. “Today we had our first full training session, as the players who had the satisfaction of joining their national teams have also returned. We’re facing a strong team with the best defense in Europe and the best ball possession in Italy. They have yet to concede a goal from open play, showing their compactness and personality. For us, it’s a perfect match to try to be competitive: it’s a very high-level test.”

Baroni had positive news regarding midfielder Matteo Guendouzi’s availability: “Guendouzi is feeling better. We’ll take another 24 hours to make all the evaluations. I think he might be available, though I’m not sure if he’ll start. Substitutions are crucial, as we’ve seen in these matches across all the competitions we’re facing.”

The manager also provided updates on other squad members. “Dele-Bashiru experienced a misadventure with Nigeria, but the young man has recovered, as has Dia. Gigot is already available and could start in the Cup. Vecino, on the other hand, was very quick to return. He has recovered from this minor fatigue, completed all the training sessions, and is doing well.”

Regarding Manuel Lazzari’s recovery, which appears to be ahead of schedule, Baroni expressed optimism: “He’s recovering quickly and is already feeling much better. I’m confident in a prompt recovery. Manuel is very eager and is accelerating his return.”
