Inter Milan midfielder Nicolò Barella has reaffirmed his dedication to the club in a wide-ranging interview with DAZN. The Italian international discussed his growth as a player, Inter’s ambitions, and his desire to remain with the Nerazzurri for the foreseeable future.

Reflecting on his development over the past five years, Barella noted, “Regarding football, what’s changed for me is how I experience it: always with a great desire to win, but perhaps with a bit more serenity. I think much more about helping the team and my teammates than about personal gain.” He added, “It’s been an incredible ride. Cagliari will always have a special place in my heart; it’s where I grew up, both as a person and a player. Moving to Inter was a step up and came with its own challenges, but it’s also been a platform to test and push my limits further.”

Barella praised his teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a “maestro,” stating, “Everyone knows he’s very strong, but not everyone sees what’s behind it. I’ve tried to adapt my game to this midfield, regardless of who plays.” He emphasized the importance of teamwork by saying, “When players are strong, they always stand out. Our style of play requires complementarity and interpreting roles in a certain way.”

When discussing Inter’s Champions League aspirations, Barella expressed his desire to lift the trophy after last season’s final defeat. “Sportingly, I’d add the Champions League, having lost the final. The dream is that, after getting so close. We have all the possibilities, and we’ll try. I’d like to be remembered for having done something for this club,” he stated.

Most notably, Barella emphatically dismissed rumors of a potential departure from Inter. “In football, anything can happen, but I’ve always expressed my intention to stay at Inter. I see a serious project and the possibility of doing something great. I’ve never made anyone believe I wanted to leave,” he asserted. He further clarified, “I don’t even know about offers because there’s never even been a discussion with my agent. I hope the club is happy; they’ve shown it to me with actions.”

Barella also spoke about the upcoming challenges in Serie A, acknowledging the strength of their rivals: “The Lazio match is not surprising because they have always been a tough team to beat. We need to focus on our path and try to win against everyone.” He concluded with confidence, saying, “We can compete with anyone.”
