Inter Milan midfielder Nicolò Barella has expressed his joy at rejoining the Italian national team ahead of their crucial Nations League match against Belgium. Speaking to the official channels of the Italian Football Federation, Barella shared his thoughts on returning to the Azzurri setup and the upcoming challenge.
“I’ve certainly missed being here, especially with the teammates I’ve been working with and have known for many years,” Barella stated. “I’m feeling great, and I want to thank them and congratulate them for the beautiful matches they played when I wasn’t here. They’ve shown great strength.”
Commenting on coach Luciano Spalletti’s observation about the high-tempo training sessions at Coverciano, Barella confirmed, “I can confirm that. On the field, I’ve had great sensations and a lot of confidence. The guys have shown on the pitch that this team can do very well, and I’m reintegrating into the group.”
When asked about facing Belgium, a team against which he has scored two memorable goals in the past, Barella responded with a mix of humor and professionalism: “We were talking about it in training, they’re one of my ‘favorite victims’. Obviously, if a goal comes, I’ll be happy, but the coach makes the choices, and I just need to be ready at any moment. If it’s not me, it will be one of my teammates.”
Looking ahead to the match, Barella emphasized the challenge that lies ahead: “It will be a difficult game. We shouldn’t be influenced by the first leg. They’ll be playing at home, they’ll want to show how strong they are, and it will be a great match for all the fans.”
