Balotelli’s Genoa Exit Looms: Empoli and Venezia Express Interest

Start

Mario Balotelli’s future at Genoa remains uncertain as the January transfer window enters its final days. Despite the striker’s recent Instagram post asserting his commitment to the club, his lack of playing time under manager Patrick Vieira has fueled speculation about a potential move.

Balotelli, who joined Genoa in October 2024, has struggled to make an impact, featuring for only 56 minutes across six matches. This limited role has led to growing interest from other clubs, with Serie A sides Empoli and Venezia reportedly making inquiries about the former Italian international.

Empoli’s interest stems from their need to bolster their attacking options following an injury to Pietro Pellegri. The Tuscan club are also considering Fiorentina’s Christian Kouamé as they look to strengthen their forward line.

Venezia, on the other hand, is preparing for the possible departure of Joel Pohjanpalo to Palermo. Should this transfer materialize, they view Balotelli as a potential replacement, with Roma’s Eldor Shomurodov also on their radar.

While these Serie A options are being explored, there have also been discussions with Trapani. However, these talks appear to be more out of courtesy to Trapani’s president Antonini rather than a serious consideration of a move to Serie C.
