Italian football legend Roberto Baggio recently appeared on the television show “Che tempo che fa” hosted by Fabio Fazio, where he shared his thoughts on former teammate Pep Guardiola and their time together at Brescia.
Baggio expressed his admiration for Guardiola’s achievements as a manager, stating, “I’ve always followed Guardiola, and I’m thrilled about his triumphs. It’s all well-deserved.” He went on to describe Guardiola’s character, saying, “He’s a good person, cheerful, positive, and approachable. He was already a coach when he was a player.”
Reflecting on their time together at Brescia, Baggio shared an amusing anecdote about their coach Carlo Mazzone: “Mazzone was afraid of dogs and had scolded one of my teammates for bringing one to the training ground. Then one day I arrived with my Labrador and my son. When he found out it was mine, he said, ‘Let him play, give him a little biscuit.'”
Baggio fondly remembered the team’s camaraderie, adding, “We were a very strong group, both on and off the field.”
The reunion of Baggio and Guardiola on the show brought back memories of their memorable stint at Brescia, where they formed a formidable partnership on the pitch.
