Serie A legend Roberto Baggio says ‘It’s hard to accept’ the passing of former teammate Gianluca Vialli. The pair played together at Juventus as well as for the Azzurri, and in a statement published by ANSA, Baggio spoke of the difficulty in accepting his friend had passed away:
“It’s always hard to accept and understand the mystery of life, especially when you are taken away from the affection of your loved ones so early.
Dear Gianluca, I wish your heavenly journey to be surrounded by a soft light for your eternal rest.
My deepest thoughts are with his wife, children, parents, brothers and close friends. With your smile and joy, bring your beloved football up there too. Your courage and your precious example will remain with us forever. Good trip Gianluca.”
Vialli tragically lost his battle with pancreatic cancer yesterday after many years battling the disease. His playing career included Cremonese, Sampdoria, Juventus and Chelsea, and included winning the Champions League with the Bianconeri in 1995.
