Atalanta’s Scamacca expected back ahead of schedule

Start

Atalanta’s striker Gianluca Scamacca is making faster progress than anticipated in his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament tear. The Roman forward, who underwent surgery on August 5th performed by Professor Mariani, is currently completing the initial phase of his rehabilitation at Villa Stuart. There’s now a new timeline for his return to the pitch.

Initially, the recovery period was estimated to be around 6-7 months following his injury. However, contrary to these earlier projections, Scamacca’s return could come sooner than expected. Calciomercato report that the striker is now anticipated to make his comeback at the beginning of the new year, rather than in March as previously thought.

Just a month and a half after his operation, Scamacca has already resumed kicking a ball. His rehabilitation plan includes continuing his preparation in Bergamo starting November, with the aim of returning to action in early 2025.

The injury occurred during a pre-season friendly match between Atalanta and Parma on August 4th. Despite this setback, Scamacca’s accelerated recovery is a positive sign for Atalanta, potentially bolstering their attacking options earlier than expected in the upcoming year.
