Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi spoke to RTL 102.5 following the team’s victory against Napoli, expressing his elation and cautious optimism about the club’s future.
“Winning at the home of the league leaders, in a packed stadium, is a unique emotion. It means a lot to us; it was a significant day,” Percassi stated. He acknowledged the growing recognition of Atalanta both in Italy and Europe but emphasized the importance of staying grounded. “We certainly enjoy this consideration in Italy and Europe, but we know our dimension and don’t get used to the ‘big’ status. We are aware that each year brings new challenges and that results are achieved step by step. It’s important to continue working with great commitment to remain competitive.”
Percassi reiterated the club’s philosophy, highlighting their primary goal of securing safety in the league before aiming higher. “First and foremost, we want to achieve our safety objective as soon as possible. Then we aim to obtain as many points as possible, without settling. Qualifying again for European competition would be extraordinary, but we are aware of the difficulties, so we must keep our feet on the ground.”
Looking ahead to their next match, Percassi commented, “The game against Stuttgart will be difficult and challenging, but it will also be a great European challenge that brings with it a lot of fascination.”
