Atalanta have  officially thanked UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin through a statement on their website, following the European Club Association (ECA) meeting held in Athens on October 10th. The message was conveyed on behalf of Atalanta’s President Antonio Percassi and CEO Luca Percassi.

The club’s statement read: “President Antonio Percassi and CEO Luca Percassi sincerely thank UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin, expressing deep gratitude on behalf of the entire Atalanta BC for the kind words spoken by Čeferin at the opening of the ECA Assembly held this morning in Athens.”

Čeferin’s remarks that particularly pleased the Bergamo-based club were as follows: “Just look at Atalanta, Europa League winners and hailing from a region dominated by two ‘giants’. Against all odds, they have established themselves as a European power. Last season, they celebrated their first-ever continental title, an incredible achievement for a club that has been knocking on the door of excellence since 2020 when they came close to the Champions League semi-final. Their success is based on bold ideas combined with vision and sustainable financial management. Atalanta and Olympiacos are living proof that even smaller clubs can reach the pinnacle of European football.”

The ECA assembly, held from October 8th to 10th in Athens, brought together over 400 football stakeholders, including about a hundred special guests such as former players and federation presidents. This gathering marked the largest meeting of the European club association to date.
