Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini reflected on his team’s 1-1 draw against Bologna, where a late goal from Lazar Samardzic salvaged a point for the Nerazzurri. The result helped Atalanta avoid a second consecutive defeat in the league following their loss to Como.
In his post-match interview with Sky Sport, Gasperini began by assessing the overall performance: “We played a good game, even in the first half. We undoubtedly had a good match. We lacked clarity when we had many attackers on the field and they were down to 10 men. We were also a bit unlucky. With a little more lucidity, we could have won.”
The Atalanta coach then discussed Nicolò Zaniolo’s progress: “It’s important that he starts playing segments of the game with some continuity. Athletically, he’s regaining his best condition. By playing, he will be able to improve his clarity and then give us the contribution we need.”
Gasperini concluded the interview by focusing on other individual performances, particularly praising new signing Lazar Samardzic: “Samardzic is a positive guy who came with a desire to do well. In my opinion, he needs to mature physically. He needs to raise his rhythms and physical strength a bit. He’s still a very young player. He can play his role with great quality and be decisive as he was tonight.”
