Atalanta: “We Haven’t Sold Koopmeiners Yet, He Hasn’t Asked to Leave”

Atalanta director Luca Percassi insists that Teun Koopmeiners hasn’t asked to leave the club: “we haven’t sold him yet.” The Dutch midfielder recently gave an interview to De Telegraaf, where he suggested that he was ready to leave Bergamo this summer, with Juventus and Liverpool both tracking him.

Speaking in an interview with L’Eco di Bergamo (via calciomercato), Percassi touched on the speculation surrounding Koopmeiners while also discussing his vision for the club and it’s future:

“When my father Antonio took over Atalanta in 2010, our stated goal, which seemed extremely difficult to achieve, was to remain in Serie A for ten consecutive years. We have surpassed that goal, and today, merely considering the possibility of achieving something even greater fills us with pride.

“We will be proud regardless if we reach the end without regrets. What we have achieved is already something truly significant. Our greatest satisfaction comes from seeing the sense of satisfaction and passion that our people convey when we achieve important victories, such as the one in the Europa League against Sporting.

“This gives us great strength and pride, and now our intention is to continue experiencing similar situations as much as possible. We will be satisfied if, at the end, we have no regrets. Over the years, Atalanta has shown that everything it has achieved has been earned on the field, always giving its all in every game and exiting without regrets. That is our goal, and then we’ll see what happens.”

“Koopmeiners? He has not yet been sold, nor has he asked to be transferred.”
