Atalanta not budging on €60m Koopmeiners valuation

Start

Serie A giants Juventus have made their first move in the pursuit of Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, but the Bergamo-based club is holding firm on their valuation of the Dutch international. According to recent reports, Juventus have tabled an opening bid of €45 million for the 26-year-old, falling significantly short of Atalanta’s €60 million asking price.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Atalanta’s reluctance to negotiate below their set valuation demonstrates their determination to retain one of their key assets or secure maximum value from any potential sale. The club’s stance is unsurprising given Koopmeiners’ importance to their squad and his consistent performances in recent seasons.

Despite Atalanta’s firm position, Juventus remain keen on securing Koopmeiners’ services. The Bianconeri’s sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, is expected to continue negotiations, potentially exploring creative solutions to bridge the valuation gap. This could include the possibility of including player exchanges as part of the deal to make it more palatable for Atalanta.

Koopmeiners himself is reportedly eager for a new challenge and may attempt to influence Atalanta’s position. However, with a contract running until 2025, Atalanta holds a strong negotiating position.

For Juventus, acquiring Koopmeiners is seen as a crucial part of their midfield reinforcement strategy under new coach Thiago Motta. The Dutch midfielder’s versatility and goal-scoring ability from midfield make him an attractive prospect for the Turin club’s evolving tactical setup.
