Atalanta secured their fourth consecutive victory with a 2-0 win against Monza, thanks to goals from Lazar Samardzic and Davide Zappacosta. After the match, Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini shared his thoughts on the team’s performance.
Gasperini began by acknowledging the difficulty of the match: “The game was difficult, largely due to Monza’s merit. For us, it was a tough first half, despite them not creating too many problems for us. Up front, especially on the wings, we had some difficulties, also due to the many games we’ve played. I’m happy for Zaniolo because it’s the first important game he’s played. Tonight’s match is very, very important for us.”
The Atalanta coach then highlighted the team’s solid core: “We have a very solid nucleus, especially in defense and midfield. This always gives us good strength and continuity. It’s clear that facing motivated teams that are in good form, like tonight, is not easy. If only all games were like those against Verona or Genoa. Tonight, everyone who came on made an important contribution.”
Gasperini emphasized the significance of the substitutes’ impact: “Tonight, all those who came off the bench gave an important contribution.”
Looking ahead to upcoming challenges, Gasperini concluded: “First of all, we’ve had a good run that has helped us climb up the table. We’ve also taken advantage of the calendar a bit. Now important clashes are coming up, like the one in Naples, and on Wednesday we have the Champions League.”
