Atalanta, Inter, Juventus, Milan and Fiorentina tracking Monza’s Daniel Maldini

Start

Daniel Maldini’s impressive performances for Monza have caught the attention of several top Italian clubs, marking a significant rise in his career trajectory. The young attacking midfielder, son of AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini, has become a hot property in Serie A, with Atalanta, Inter, Juventus, Milan, and Fiorentina all showing interest.

Gazzetta dello Sport report how Atalanta’s CEO Luca Percassi publicly acknowledged the club’s interest, praising Maldini’s talent and family pedigree. This statement underlines the growing recognition of Maldini’s potential among Italy’s elite clubs.

Monza’s acquisition of Maldini, initially on loan from AC Milan and later on a permanent basis, has proven to be a masterstroke by CEO Adriano Galliani. The player has found stability and consistency at Monza, leading to his recent call-ups to the Italian national team under Luciano Spalletti.

Despite the mounting interest, a January transfer seems unlikely. Maldini is a key player in Alessandro Nesta’s Monza squad, crucial to their fight for Serie A survival. Interested clubs are more likely to target a summer move.

Monza’s contract with Maldini includes two release clauses: €12 million for Italian clubs and €15 million for foreign clubs, both valid only for July 2025. AC Milan retains a 50% stake in any future sale, adding complexity to potential transfers.

The interest from various clubs reflects different strategic considerations. Atalanta and Inter are known for nurturing Italian talent, while Juventus sees an opportunity to add a promising young Italian to their squad. Fiorentina’s interest is partly due to coach Raffaele Palladino’s previous experience with Maldini at Monza.
