Atalanta close to securing Rodrigo Becao

Start

Atalanta are on the verge of completing a significant defensive reinforcement with the acquisition of Brazilian defender Rodrigo Becao from Fenerbahce. The Serie A club have made substantial progress in negotiations, and a deal could be finalized within the next 48 hours.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Atalanta have submitted an offer to Fenerbahce for Becao, proposing a loan deal with an option to buy. This structure allows the Italian club to assess the player’s performance before committing to a permanent transfer.

Despite interest from other Serie A clubs, including Fiorentina and Torino, Becao is said to favor a move to Atalanta. The player’s willingness to join the Bergamo-based team has given Atalanta a significant advantage in securing his signature.

For Becao, this transfer represents a return to familiar territory. The 28-year-old defender previously spent four seasons in Italy with Udinese from 2019 to 2023, establishing himself as a reliable presence in Serie A. During his time at Udinese, Becao made over 100 appearances, demonstrating his adaptability to Italian football.

In his most recent season with Fenerbahce, Becao featured in 22 matches across all competitions, contributing one goal. His experience in both Serie A and the Turkish Süper Lig makes him an attractive option for Atalanta, who are looking to strengthen their defensive line.

Atalanta’s manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, is keen to bolster his defensive options, and Becao’s potential arrival would provide valuable depth and experience to the squad. The Brazilian’s versatility and familiarity with Serie A could make him an immediate asset to Gasperini’s tactical setup.
