Arsenal want to make ‘gift’ of Milinkovic-Savic signing

Start

Arsenal will reportedly look to make a ‘gift’ of signing Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkvoci-Savic if they can win the Premier League this season. The 28-year-old midfielder is edging into the final year of his contract, and if the Biancocelesti don’t agree an extension or sell him this summer, they risk losing him for free in June 2024.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Lazio have indeed offered a new contract to the Serbian midfielder in a deal that would see him earn €4m-a-year deal until 2026 with a release clause of €60m.

Despite the generous offer, Gazzetta suggest that the players agent Mateja Kezman is unwilling to continue talks with Lazio, given that his client has been linked with moves to Juventus, Newcastle, Milan and Arsenal, as well as a long0standing interest from Manchester United.

The Bianconeri and Milan look the most likely of the Italian sides to try and prize away the midfielder, however they would struggle to compete with the resources on hand to the various English suitors.

Gazzetta claim Arsenal will make a ‘gift’ of signing the Serbian, if they can hold out to the end of the season and lift the Premier League title, while Newcastle have already been in contact with Kezman and have greater means through their Saudi ownership.

West Ham are another of the English sides following Milinkovic-Savic, however his agent has made it clear that playing Champions League football is a priority, which also explains why they didn;t entertain offers from Arsenal and Newcastle last season.
