Andrea Belotti linked with Roma January exit

Start

Andrea Belotti looks likely to leave Roma ahead of schedule, being linked with moves to Serie A rivals this January.

Former Torino striker Belotti, 29, has struggled to integrate himself into José Mourinho’s Roma side and maintain fitness since his free transfer in August. Il Gallo has played a mere 362 minutes in Serie A this season.

Belotti signed an initial one-year contract with Roma, but there is an automatic two-year extension clause if he meets certain performance-related criteria. It appears ever more likely, however, that Mourinho would rather continue his reign as Roma manager without the centre forward.

La Nazione reported this morning to keep a particular eye on Belotti’s movements this January, with certain Serie A sides already mooted to be interested in signing the 29-year-old.

Fiorentina, who are relying on the goal-shy Luka Jović and Arthur Cabral up front, have allegedly already made initial contact with Belotti’s entourage. Such a transfer may be beneficial for all parties: Belotti’s track record in Serie A prior to his unsuccessful move to the Italian capital was exceptional (100 League goals in 232 appearances for Torino), whilst Fiorentina are starting to become frustrated with their attacking output.
