Andre Onana announces international retirement

Start

Inter goalkeeper André Onana has announced his retirement from the Cameroon national team, saying his ‘story has come to an end’. The 26-year-old reportedly fell out with coach Rigobert Song during the recent World Cup in Qatar and while he featured in the match against Switzerland, the disagreement ended with him leaving the team before the end of the tournament.

Onana has now announced that he will no longer play for his national team through an official statement published on his social media:

“Every story has its end and my story with the Cameroonian national team has come to an end.

“Players come and go, names are fleeting, but Cameroon remains eternal and so does my love for the national team and for our people who have always supported us no matter how difficult the moment was.

“My feeling will never change, my Cameroonian heart will continue to beat and wherever I go, I will always fight to lift the flag of Cameroon as high as possible.”
