Allegri: ‘Vlahovic will still take the penalties’

Start

Max Allegri confirmed that Dusan Vlahovic will continue to take Juve’s penalties after their 2-1 win over Monza. The Serbian international failed to convert from the spot in the first half of the Bianconeri’s match with the Biancorossi, but despite the miss, Allegri insists Vlahovic will remain their first choice PK taker:

“It was an important victory against a strong team that had taken six points from us last year. We had a good first half, in the second half they kept the ball more but we risked little or nothing. Ours was an avoidable goal: it was enough to close in on Carboni’s left footed shot. But I have nothing to reproach the team for. The reaction immediately after the goal was down to the boys”.

“Vlahovic? He had a good game and if he misses a penalty it’s not like he doesn’t have to kick them anymore. Around November we always talk about my future, but the important thing is the future of the club. It’s not a question of Allegri or the players. Juve must plan, football is made easy with planning. With Manna and Giuntoli we are aligned, we have a clear objective of getting back into the Champions League’.

“Milan and Napoli can return to the top two positions. All it takes is a string of victories and everything comes back into play. We have to ride the momentum because these guys have to be helped, they’re doing important things. All the boys are questioning themselves. Winning is very difficult, we know our limits. Now we have to recover some players like Danilo and Locatelli. The group is doing important things but we must not stop. We must improve from week to week.”
