Allegri: ‘No complaints, Fabbri refereed perfectly’

Start

Massimiliano Allegri insists that he has nothing to complain about after Juve’s controversial 1-0 defeat to Napoli: ‘Fabbri refereed perfectly’. The Bianconeri had the ball in the net twice, with both efforts being ruled out, before Napoli scored a late winner through Giacomo Raspadori. The decision to disallow Juve’s first goal looked contentious as Arek Milik was deemed to have fouled Stanislav Labotka in the buildup to the goal, however replays show he may have won the ball.

Discussing the matter in his post-game presser (as quoted by TuttoJuve), Allegri refused to be critical of the referee and instead chose to focus on the performance of his team and the upcoming Coppa Italia semi-final against Inter midweek:

“I have nothing to complain about, Fabbri refereed perfectly. We have to remain serene because on Wednesday there is Inter then the championship where we have to start winning again and we have a 3-point advantage over fourth. We had a good game against a strong Napoli side that deserved the Scudetto. We have to work to be competitive immediately for next year.”

Will this performance be needed to beat Inter? What do you think about Lukaku’s ‘pardon’?

“With Inter it will be a different game. We have to be good at getting our energy back. As for Lukaku my thoughts count for zero, there are the competent bodies and we have to accept it in total serenity. The energy we have must serve us to win games on the field.”

A judgment on Soulé?

“Tonight I am very happy. Soulè and Miretti had a good game, Rugani and Gatti the same. We could have taken better advantage of situations in the first half, it’s part of the team improvements to be made. The performance was good, on the one hand I’m happy on the other a little less because we conceded a goal liked we were inexperienced.”

A performance to build on?

“I am very confident, it was not easy to be in those conditions for 4 months, to find the energy and concentration to get results. I’m sorry because we lost the 4th game in the last 5 in the league. After Di Maria’s goal the game should have ended 0-0.”

“In the 20 years I’ve been doing this job I’ve always accepted everything because you can’t change anything. Then it is normal that on the pitch there can be some nervousness, however we have to stay calm and serene because it is the strength of a team. Wednesday will be another game of high sporting tension.”

Did Cuadrado’s behavior on the goal anger you?

“He was positioned correctly and we were light on the side where they got the ball.”

Did you expect this Napoli after the Champions League?

“Napoli has already won the Scudetto. We had to play such games and we did. Napoli is a strong team and I have nothing to reproach the boys for.”

Was it you goal to coach Napoli?

“I don’t know what he said exactly. He had sought me out and I made completely different choices.”
