Max Allegri says he’s spoken with Giorgio Chiellini following his retirement, suggesting he could have a role with Juventus in the future. The Bianconeri boss was speaking ahead of their match with Genoa tomorrow evening and talked about the teams goals this season while also touching on Chiellini’s future:
“My personal goal counts for nothing, the team’s goal counts. There are four games to go before the end of the first half of the season, then we’ll make assessments. Rabiot is fine. Kean, we decided to stop him because of the tibia problem, which we carried on: he was very good in suffering, but now it’s time for him to rest for three-four weeks. The others are all available, except De Sciglio, who will return in 2024”.
“At the start of the year it would have been difficult to predict that we would be duelling like this with Inter, but it’s still early days. We must keep our feet on the ground and keep the balance: a negative result could condition the future. We must do everything not to have any.
“Chiellini? We spoke. He has had an extraordinary career. Being the intelligent boy that he is, he will have to decide what he wants to do. I think he has all the characteristics to cover different roles, it will be up to him to choose. As far as Bonucci is concerned, I think his intention will be to coach and I believe he has the qualities, I wish him the best when he leaves’.
“Ancelotti’s comments? am honoured that Carlo put me in with him (and Mourinho, as top coaches). There are so many good young coaches who have to make a career. We try to defend ourselves well. I have always heard from those with more experience that there is no winning method. Nobody has the truth about football: there are too many variables.
“I’m not tired at all. In these years, contrary to popular belief, I have not been a manager. In the 100 years of Agnelli ownership, there has never been a lack of organisation. We must continue to improve through results. The main objective is to return to playing Champions League football’.
