Max Allegri was philosophical after Juve’s 5-1 defeat to Napoli, reflecting that ‘evenings like this can happen’ in football. The Bianconeri were torn apart by the Napoli attack with Juve defender Bremer having a particularly tough evening against Victor Osimhen. Speaking to DAZN after the match, Allegri was quick to point out that the opposition deserved credit for their victory:
“Kudos must be given to Napoli because they played a good game. As for us, we were a little low on energy. After the first 20 minutes where we had a little difficulty we got up the pitch, however, football is also this. Now we need to get back on our feet, recover energy and start working again.
It is not the heaviest defeat of my career with Juventus. Tonight it was deserved, then there are situations, like tonight, where every situation you risk conceding goals, but they are easily readable situations. Sometimes football is also this, we had the strength to try to turn it around, however, we didn’t. But this doesn’t mean we should let our heads drop, because we still come from eight wins in a row.
These are evenings that happen, an evening happened against the first in the class who deserve the lead they have, and in fact has a 10-point lead. We have to try to work, grow and recover the injured. And above all, as in all negative situations, we must see the positive, because it is with positive energy that we can win games.
I feel sorry for the president because, in any case, I spent wonderful years with him. He made a cycle with Juventus that I think is unrepeatable, however as he told us yesterday we have to think about moving forward and try to get the goals of this season.”
